Applicants must file an application with the board, a letter of intent affirming the applicant meets the eligibility requirements of Kentucky law, and a transcript evidencing completion of the 12th grade or results of a 12th-grade equivalency examination.
Once a resignation is received and approved by the Board, it has 60 days to appoint a replacement. The board vacancy became effective June 14. The Board must receive applications by the deadline of Monday, July 18 at 12 p.m., noon.
This appointment will be effective until the end of the term on Dec. 31, 2022.
Responsibilities include: setting policy to govern the District; hiring/evaluating the Superintendent; and levying taxes and adopting the District budget. Board members must:
- Be at least 24 years old and a Kentucky citizen for the last three years;
- Be a registered voter in the particular District of the vacancy;
- Have completed the 12th grade or have a GED certificate;
- Meet all other legal qualifications (KRS 160.180); and
- Complete required annual in-service training.
The Board will proceed to appoint an individual to fill this seat for the unexpired term pursuant to KRS 160.190 and Board Policy 01.3.
